The Micro-MaTch contacts avoid the traditional failure mode in tin-plated connections, called fretting corrosion. Vibrations/thermal expansion between male and female contacts cause relative movements that are absorbed by an additional positioning spring in the female part. A gas-tight connection allows the Micro-MaTch contact spring system to resist fretting corrosion by preventing movement on the contact spot.
